China’s important trunk-line airport, international scheduled flight airport, first-class air port open to the outside world and alternate airport for international flight
Located in the east of Hangzhou City, Zhejiang Province, and 27 kilometers from the downtown area, Hangzhou Xiaoshan International Airport is an important trunk-line airport in China, international scheduled flight airport, first-class air port open to the outside world and alternate airport for international flight, and is the first air portal in Zhejiang Province.
Subject to the principle of “one-time planning and phased construction”, the airport was constructed in three phases: near, medium and long term. Phase I of the airport project covers an area of more than 7260 mu, which had its construction officially commence in July 1997 and was completed on December 28, 2000 for air traffic.
Relying on the abundant passenger and freight resources in Zhejiang Province and its surrounding areas and the booming aviation market demand, Hangzhou Xiaoshan International Airport has witnessed a soaring growth in transportation production and an increasing scale of airline network since its completion and operation. In 2007, the airport witnessed the passenger throughput break through 10 million person-times for the first time, enabling it to rank among the busy airports in the world. In 2013 and 2016, the annual passenger throughput of the airport exceeded 20 million and 30 million person-times, respectively.
In the context of the strong market demand, Hangzhou Airport actively develops the market, continuously introduces new airlines and opens up new routes, and constantly strengthens the in-depth cooperation with base airlines and large express enterprises, achieving constantly rising flight execution rate, continuous increase in proportion of large aircraft on popular routes, and significant growth rate in all cargo carrier. By the end of 2017, Hangzhou Airport operated 62 airlines, including 31 domestic airlines, 6 regional airlines and 25 international airlines, and 162 traffic sites, including 113 mainland sites, 6 regional sites and 43 international sites.
